Hokitika Christian Fellowship
We are a local church of believers that seeks to align itself with God's pattern as revealed in Scripture in our unique locality.
For every believer this means being a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ and seeking to be like Him and live like Him
as our foremost goal in life. This is commonly called discipleship (John 8:31; Psalm 1:2; Joshua 1:8).
For the corporate body it means bringing ourselves into line with the pattern God has given in His word as we
fulfil our Scriptural responsibilities toward God, His church (both local and universal), and the lost (our community and the wider world).
Government.
HCF is governed by its own eldership who God has raised up within the local church. These elders also consult with
known and respected ministries from outside the local church as necessary. HCF is locally governed and locally funded.
Discipleship
HCF believes Jesus is still calling His people to follow Him. Contrary to the Greek model of absorbing information in an institutionalised setting
which is our cultural norm in the Western World, the Biblcial pattern is personal transformation through interaction in daily life.
This is what Jesus did with the twelve and is the Biblical pattern throughout Scripture.
Family Integrated
At HCF We believe God is restoring the family as well as His church in our time. When any person is born again
they are born into His family but the church is also a "family of families". The first of the 10 commandments involving man is about honouring
within the family. Strong families mean strong churches and a strong nation. This ethos is woven into the fabric of HCF and its ministries. Read more.
Other Churches.
HCF respects and seeks to honour other Bible-believing churches locally and worldwide and seeks to support them as God leads.
Like any other church HCF has its distinctives in belief and practice and seeks relationship and unity without compromise of
its convictions but with respect for the convictons of others.
